Yes. On your Android phone, share a YouTube link to The Remote, pick the TV, and it plays on your Android TV or Google TV. It works with a link you found in YouTube, got in WhatsApp or opened in a browser. The Remote is free, with no ads and no account.
Share the link to The Remote, then pick the TV
- Tap Share on the video or the link, in YouTube, WhatsApp, a browser or another app.
- Choose The Remote from the share list.
- Check the link and pick the TV, like Living room or Bedroom.
- Tap Open on that TV. The video plays on the TV.
The TV may still need you to confirm playback.
It works for links someone sent you
The usual route, casting, starts from the YouTube app. A shared link skips the search: if a friend sends a video in a chat, share it straight to The Remote and pick the TV.
Pick the right TV first
If you've saved more than one TV, check which one is selected before you open the link. That way it plays on the screen you meant, not on the one someone else is watching. See remote apps for multiple TVs in different rooms.
If it doesn't open
Open YouTube on the TV, make sure it's up to date, and try again. Link support depends on the TV and its YouTube app version. If the TV shows a message, sort that out on the TV first. The open-a-link guide covers YouTube's own casting and TV-code options too.
What you need
An Android phone with Android 8.0 or later (no iPhone version), and an Android TV or Google TV with Android TV Remote Service v2 on the same home Wi-Fi.
