On your phone and TV

To pair, the app finds devices on your local network and uses the TV's address, service name, pairing status, and certificate fingerprint. A non-exportable identity in Android Keystore keeps the phone's pairing keys.

Saved TV names, rooms, favorites, shortcuts, compatibility confirmations, and remote preferences stay in the app's private storage on your phone. The optional TV companion can save the fingerprints of phones you explicitly approve.

Remote commands, text, video links, and searches go to the TV you choose over your local network. YouTube search puts your query in a YouTube-on-TV app link; YouTube can process that link under its own privacy policy. Other supported searches use the optional local TV companion.

Pairing codes, search queries, and text drafts last only as long as the current action needs them. The Remote doesn't keep a search or typing history.

The optional TV search companion

It uses Android Accessibility after you enable it in TV settings and approve a paired phone. For a search you start, it checks the foreground app against a fixed list of supported packages and finds a visible Search field.

It doesn't use that access to read passwords, browse unrelated apps, or send screen contents to the developer. You can disable it in the TV's Accessibility settings and revoke paired phones on the TV.

Diagnostics, if you choose to share

The app shows you a text snapshot before opening Android's app chooser. It contains the app version and build code, build type, Android API level, and selected preference settings.

It excludes TV names, addresses, pairing data, typed text, logs, files, and credentials. Nothing uploads automatically. The app you choose to receive the snapshot handles it under its own privacy policy.

Local connections and links

The developer doesn't run a server or cloud relay for app commands. Commands and text go to your selected TV; the TV and the app receiving a query may process them. Opening a provider link takes you to your browser or that provider's app.

Local control connections use certificate-pinned TLS. Private pairing keys stay in Android Keystore and are excluded from backups. App backup is disabled.

This website and beta requests

Cloudflare Pages hosts these pages at theremote-site.pages.dev. Cloudflare may process visit information such as IP addresses, request times, and pages viewed under Cloudflare's privacy policy. The Remote adds no separate analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts beyond what the host may inject.

To request the beta, you submit your Google Play account email and consent to private storage. A Cloudflare Worker trims whitespace and lowercases the address, then stores it and the first request time in a private Cloudflare D1 database. Repeat requests don't create extra entries. Emails aren't published, exposed through a public list, or written to application logs.

The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to limit abuse. Cloudflare processes verification and request metadata, including your IP address, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. The Worker uses your IP temporarily for verification and rate limiting; it doesn't store the IP in the request database. Verification loads only when the request service is configured.

A request doesn't enroll you in Google Play or send an automatic invitation. We review requests privately. If approved, the developer manually invites your Google Play account to the test. Accept the invitation before installing. Google handles tester information and Play activity under Google's privacy policy.

Keeping and deleting data

Saved TVs and preferences stay on your device until you remove a TV, clear the app's storage, or uninstall it. Forgetting a TV removes its saved connection and pairing identity from the phone.

On the TV, use Revoke paired phones in The Remote's setup screen to remove companion approvals, or clear or uninstall the TV app. Temporary drafts and enrollment proofs are cleared when the action finishes, is canceled, times out, or you leave that app flow. There is no The Remote phone-app account to delete.

Beta records are kept while needed to review and manage access. To request removal, email baagad.ai@gmail.com from the submitted address. Private exports should be deleted when no longer needed. Cloudflare backups may retain deleted records under its backup policy. Manage Google Play records through your Google Account and Google's controls.
