Type the search on your phone, and the results open on the TV

  1. Open The Remote and pick the TV.
  2. Tap Search YouTube.
  3. Type your search on your phone keyboard and send it.
  4. The results open in YouTube on the TV, where everyone in the room can see them.

The first time, the TV may ask which app to use. Choose YouTube.

Results on the TV are different from casting a video

When you cast, you pick the video on your phone, and only that video goes to the TV. With a search, the results grid opens on the TV, so the room can choose together. If you already know the video, sharing its link works better: see how to send a YouTube link to your TV.

YouTube also has its own phone options

YouTube's phone app can cast to the TV, link to it with a TV code, and act as a companion while you watch, including voice search. YouTube Help: watch on your TV These work well if you want to browse on your phone first.
