Yes. The Remote is a free Android TV and Google TV remote with no account and no sign-in. Install it on your Android phone, pick your TV, and enter the code the TV shows. That's the whole setup.
Nothing to sign in to: you pair with the TV, not with us
The only "login" is pairing. Your TV shows a code, you type it into The Remote, and your phone can control that TV. There's no email, password or profile to make.
Your remote commands stay on your home network
Remote commands go from your phone to your paired TV over your local network. They don't pass through a developer cloud relay. The Remote doesn't keep a search history. Details are in our privacy policy.
YouTube on the TV still has its own account
The Remote doesn't sign you into anything. Whatever account YouTube on your TV already uses stays as it is. If the TV shows a YouTube sign-in or playback message, sort that out on the TV.
Some other remote apps do need an account
Amazon's Fire TV app, for example, says on its listing that it needs an Amazon account. Check any remote app's listing if you'd rather not sign in. Amazon Fire TV app listing
What The Remote does without an account
- Search YouTube by typing on your phone. The results open on the TV.
- Share a YouTube link to The Remote and it plays on the TV.
- Name your TVs and organise them by room.
It's free, with no ads. You need an Android phone (Android 8.0 or later) and an Android TV or Google TV with Android TV Remote Service v2, on the same home Wi-Fi.
